I live in the Central Valley of California (Lodi)where the summer avg. temp is around 92F. My home is modular construction. The first set of windows being replaced are my weather side. South facing, direct morning to early afternoon sun in the summer, gets all the wind and rain in the winter. I'm replacing aluminum single hung, double pane, (leaking) nail fin windows with vinyl of the same configuration. I've gotten 1 quote so far from lowes for Better Bilt Homemaker 2 360 windows. It seems to be a decent price (1500) for 8. I am just now educating myself on windows and really know nothing. Are these windows any good? They are Energy Star Rated. 30, 30 rating??? 20 yr. leakage warranty. My budget is limited and this price is good for us. Anyone know of other window options in this price range, in this area? Not a ringing endorsement of their Better Built products. I really could not believe she could not have use a better sales approach You might want to try 'Superior Deluxe or Milgard Styleline products if they are offered in your area. IMO make sure all your quotes are using low-e3 glass option. If money is tight you might

The guy at Stockton Lowes says he sells a lot of them with few problems. However I know they work on commission........ I am going to Home Depot this afternoon. Consumer Reports rates their American Craftsman 9500 windows highly. I will also check out your suggestions. Consumer reports only look at u values and products that are sold "over the counter". very misleading. I did some research on the Milgard Styleline window and it looks like a winner. I think I can live with the uneven sight lines for the savings involved. Called to Home Depot for a quote and they are within our budget. I'm also having a Milgard Dealer come out for a turnkey estimate as this is above my pay grade as far as installation goes.
