How accurate is Speccy in terms of temp readings? Thread starter Thread starter smokeybravo Start date Start date Feb 5, 2013 You are using an out of date browser. One is on motherboard below the cpu socket. there's temp diodes for the cores and temp diodes for IHS (integrated heat spreader, the HSF sits on this).cpu package temps seem higher than core temps and this is because the package temp is read at the mobo socket and is warmer. the temp diode at the IHS-HSF contact will read the least temp as that dissipates the heat fastest.the most important temp is the core temp. the further you are from reaching it's threshold the cooler you are running. #1 Real Temp 3.00 was released today at techPowerUp! "RealTemp got its major face-lift today with the introduction of the third major version. RealTemp is a nifty utility used to monitor the temperatures of Intel processors, with a breakdown of temperatures on a per-core and T-junction basis. The application makes use of the digital thermal sensor component Intel Core series processors come with. With version 3.00, RealTemp gets Core i7 friendly, supporting monitoring of its temperatures, including in Turbo Mode, where the software controls frequencies and power of individual processing cores. The new release adds a host of features including plug-in support for RivaTuner, the ability to report temperatures of NVIDIA graphics cards, updated detection algorithms as per Intel specifications, and several UI improvements. The release covers as many as a hundred changes that include preliminary support for the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system. For a list of major changes and other information, head over to the RealTemp" Download techPowerUp! :: Download Real Temp 3.00Homepage Real Temp - CPU temperature monitoring Installation and Calibration Real Temp - Documentation Interesting read on TJMax values, especially this part; "Based on my testing and reports from users, a 5C difference doesn't seem too unusual with 65nm and TJMax might vary by 10C in the 45 nm CPUs. The result is that two CPUs with the exact same model number might have different TJMax values and it also seems that there are situations where cores on the same CPU can have different TJMax values. For the 45nm processors, TJ Target and TJ Max seem to be similar but for the older 65nm CPUs, actual TJ Max can be 10C or higher for many processors." #3 Thanks for the info - sticky updated.Core Temp Software - Free Download Core Temp - WinSite

Attempting manual overclocking ? #11 Yes, the OC Genie is disabled. #12 In that case I suspect your CPU multi has not been reset to default. Suggest the following.Do a CMOS clear to get everything back to default. Then only increase the Core multis. #13 I did reload default values with F6 in BIOS everything went back to default. Nothing happen when I press enter on core ratio ; just to be sure that I'm at the good menu it is in Overclocking tab, CPU Features, the last lines? #14 If you are able to access the core ratios and the line is highlighted, use the + or - keys on the num keypad to change those multis. #15 Thank you so much again Bernhard. I really appreciate that you take time to help me! It's working now 4.3 Under load ;idle 1.6 #16 Glad you are sorted. Now its testing time for you to see what multi your board/CPU combo can do on Auto. Let us know. You don't want to manually adjust the voltages as that will inhibit the power saving features on the Sandy Bridge platform. #17 Sure I'll try but could you tell me more about Prime95 and what test should I do to test stability? #18 Just run the default "Blend". All cores will be loaded 100%. Check your temperatures. If it runs stable for 30 to 60 mins on all the cores, then I doubt you will encounter problems anywhere else.Use Core Temp or Real Temp to check the temperatures. #19 I'm trying to find the latest version of prime95 because I can't access the main website; what is the latest version? #20 depends on your OS but here you can download the latest 64 and 32bit versions.Comments
