Well I really don't like to write so much... but I wanna share what I've doing since the first time that I visit this page long time ago...The applications that writes in several sites on the HDD are a pain in the a$$, but the ones who only writes in the registry are piece of cake... at least for me.I'll use as a example "Cerberus FTP Server" wich is a freeware and only writes settings to the registry, but I paid for it since is not for "personal use", so I need to carry my License/users/settings/etcTo much bla, bla, bla... just do this (any application):1. Install the application (don't run it)2. Open any registry editor (the one boundled with windows will work just fine: click on "START", click "Run...", type "Regedit", hit enter)2. Check this roots in the registry (since all or almost all applications write its settings in here):Code: Select all a) HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software b) HKEY_CURRENT_MACHINE\Software3. Run, configure and close the application, see what have changed in the registry.4. Export the root(s) that were created (in case of Cerberus) "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cerberus FTP Server" (Menu "File", command "Export", give a name (like settings.reg) and save the file in the folder where the application was instaled).5. This XSS vulnerability allows a malicious public share to insert arbitrary JavaScript into the page.When a user creates a public share of a folder, the generated URL contains a unique key followed by a path. The path portion of the URL is used to support continued browsing through nested folders within the share. JavaScript code within the public share page uses the path to dynamically update folders and files displayed to the end-user. This JavaScript code implicitly trusts the path portion of the URL, failing to sanitize it for HTML and JavaScript content. However, Cerberus FTP Server 2024.2.0 introduces an enhancement to these configurations. This article will assist in providing details around this enhancement.In the User Manager > Users, select a user and then navigate to the Authentication tab. The checkbox labeled “Require 2 Factor for SSH SFTP/SCP” has been replaced with a dropdown menu. This menu offers options such as “Ignore”, “Require When Status Enabled”, and “Require”.2FA Settings for User in Cerberus Admin page (User Manager : Users : Authentication)2FA Drop Down Menu for SSH SFTP/SCP with different optionsIgnore: Cerberus will bypass the use of 2FA for SSH and SFTP/SCP protocols, regardless of the status of 2 2-factor authentication.
